To Calvary with Christ is a 40-day meditation on the Stations of the Cross designed for use in the home. It presents the Stations of the Cross in slow motion: reflecting on each event on the Way of the Cross for 3-4 days, walking the reader slowly toward Calvary.
Daily scripture passages, prayers, and meditations for each day of Lent dive into the meaning and significance of each Station, enlivening the reader's experience of this long-standing Catholic devotion. These daily exercises are designed to enliven the faith and devotion of adults, yet are brief and simple enough to engage children as well.
The Stations of the Cross is one of the most popular devotions in the Church throughout the year, and certainly is the best-loved of all Lenten practices. To Calvary with Christ will employ the 14 Stations of the Cross as a framework for Lenten devotion, reflecting on one Station for 3-4 days before moving on to the next. Passages from Scripture and the insights of the Saints will illuminate the meaning of each Station throughout the course of Lent.
In one sense, To Calvary with Christ is not a Stations of the Cross book, since the Stations are meant to be prayed all at once, in procession. Yet, this book will deepen the experience of this devotion by exploring in greater detail the mystery of each of the events that comprise the Way of the Cross.
