Ritual Breve: Para El Presbitero Itinerante - Benedicto XVI

A ritual is a book that contains the forms in which different sacraments are celebrated. These gestures and texts are called rituals because they express and form liturgical actions. The Ritual breve is not a new ritual. It is a small selection of official updated rituals, especially for the celebrations in which priests preside. It thinks of the needs of priests who, in their pastoral ministry, need to visit distant and/or poor communities who cannot have entire collections of rituals and liturgical books in their churches. It is also useful when a priest cannot transport all the necessary liturgical books to attend to a community. In this ritual, priests will find elements to be able to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, and Marriage. It also contains the necessary resources for caring for the sick and the Christian funeral rites. It also contains what is necessary for celebration of the Eucharist as in the Order of the Mass, and also (in the appendix) prayers for preparation for the Mass, prayers for thanksgiving after Mass, and resources for Eucharistic Adoration. Finally, it contains a variety of common blessings.
