Four great mystics: Pseudo-Denis, Bonaventure, Ramon Lull, and Teresa of Avila are presented here in their historical context -- outside of which, the author cautions, they cannot be clearly understood. For each, we are presented with background information, an analysis of one or more works, and an epilogue in which the author discusses the influence and spirituality of the mystic.
