In From Pentecost to the Triune God Steven Studebaker explores the relationship between pneumatology and the Trinity in Pentecostal theology and shows the theological significance of the Pentecostal experience of the Holy Spirit for trinitarian theology. Studebaker suggests that Pentecostal theologians often avoid giving religious experience an explicit role in theology because they fear the criticism of religious subjectivism from other scholars. In contrast, he argues that Pentecostal experience provides a point of orientation to the biblical narratives of the Spirit and offers a significant contribution to trinitarian theology. Studebaker advances these points (and others) in seven chapters that place Pentecostal pneumatology and trinitarian theology in historical and contemporary context, covering approaches to trinitarian theology in Eastern and Western, reformed evangelical, and charismatic traditions.
