Paper, notebook size. Count the days and weeks of this liturgical year, reminded of Christ’s instructions to go and make disciples, living the life of faith and service that he taught. The Year of Grace liturgical year follows the Sunday cycle and the Weekday Year II cycle, beginning on December 1 (First Sunday of Advent) and ending on November 29.

LTP’s circular display of the liturgical year makes its key features easily understandable. We can see at a glance the liturgical seasons in their characteristic colors, Sundays on the outer rim, and the days and weeks radiating from the center. There the artist, Andrew Lyons, has portrayed Christ commissioning the Apostles. In the four corners we see colorful scenes from four stories in the Acts of the Apostles that tell us how the first Christians lived and grew the Church. In one scene, the newly formed Christian community lives in harmony, sharing their resources; in another, Tabitha, the artful needlewoman, is brought back to life by St. Peter; in a third, St. Stephen sees a vision of Christ as he is martyred; and finally, Paul and Silas, who did not flee their prison cell when an earthquake shook open the doors, inspire their jailer to request baptism for himself and his whole family. These illustrations entice us to read further in the Scriptures they represent, and remind us that we, too, are commissioned as Christ’s disciples in the world.

Use the Year of Grace notebook version in many ways:

Use as handouts for children and adults in classrooms or in catechetical or formation sessions to teach about the liturgical year

Give (or sell) copies to households in the parish and school to use as placemats.

Along with the poster calendar, post one in every classroom, meeting room, and in the church vestibule to teach about the liturgical year.

Present to first communicants and Confirmation candidates in preparation sessions.
