In this monologue, a woman sitting on a park bench across from a church recounts her experience growing up when every week, she sat in church "third row, left of center." Her happy Christian family illusion was shattered one day when her mother announced she and her father were getting a divorce. Now, the "divorcee and her kids" sat in the back of the church, outcasts and unwelcome. She angrily recounts her disappointment at how little those who were supposed to be the "light of the world, salt of the earth" did for her during those difficult years. When she grew up, the woman left the church-and hasn't been back. The closest she gets is "the second park bench, left of the sidewalk."Topics: BEING SALT AND LIGHT, HOW CHURCHES CAN SOMETIMES DRIVE PEOPLE AWAY FROM GODCharacters: 1 FEMALEParticipants: 1Author: Sharon Sherbondy
