Bible scholars seeking to quote extensively from the Scriptures must also navigate the differing and difficult copyright restrictions of modern translations. The World English Bible takes this issue off the table: writers and researchers may quote the WEB to any length without seeking permission or pay any fees to any publisher. Is the quotation in a work destined for sale? It doesn't matter. No permission, no fees, no royalties to the publisher, period. The WEB updates the reliable ASV translation (which is also in the public domain) with modern English while retaining its intent to translate the Bible faithfully.
This hard cover edition has been formatted to make it easy to read. Many Bibles have flimsy paper and small font sizes in order to reduce the production cost to make the Bibles more affordable--but you have to squint to read them, and they tear easily. This edition takes the opposite approach. The sturdy paper and larger (size 11) font makes for many more pages--and a more expensive product--but should be easier to read and last longer than other editions. DUE TO THE LARGE SIZE, RETURNS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Effort was made to ensure consistency in formatting, font size, pagination, and other elements that enhance reader enjoyment. Footnotes and commentary included in other versions of the WEB have been deleted, but can still be found at the WEB's webpage. This edition includes only the 66 books of the Bible accepted by the entire Church as canonical.
